Congratulations to Marie Mueller who was today awarded the PDBe sponsored 1st prize for her poster at a major structural biology conference in Heidelberg, Germany.
Marie, from was attending the EMBL conference The conference celebrated the legacy left by Nobel Prize winner Kendrew, a structural biologist who was the first director of It also highlighted the dramatic changes the field of structural biology has undergone.
Marie, who's poster described "broad-spectrum antiviral Nanoparticles - a mechanistic cryoEM study", is pictured (left) receiving her prize from Sameer velankar, head of PDBe, and with the prize (above), a glass block into which is etched Kendrew's pioneering structure of myoglobin (PDBe.org/1mbn). It was this work for which Kendrew was awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize in chemistry.
